The 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe receives a major
freshening, with revised styling and new engines. This is the smaller of
Hyundai's two midsize SUVs. It seats 5 and is available with front-wheel drive
or all-wheel drive. Notable for this year is that the third-row bench seat is no longer an option.
Full Review
The 2010 model comes in GLS, SE,
and Limited trim levels. Standard on the GLS and front-drive Limited is a new
175-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine. Standard on the SE and optional on
the Limited is a new 276-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6. These engines replace V-6
motors of 2.7 and 3.3 liters. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard on the
front-drive GLS. Optional on that model and standard on all others is a 6-speed
automatic. Maximum towing capacity is 3,500 pounds with the V-6. Available safety
features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front-side airbags, and
curtain-side airbags. Leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a sunroof are
standard on the Limited. A navigation system and rearview camera are optional on
all.
Exterior Design and Look
A new grille, front bumper, and fog lights contribute to a more purposeful
visage. None are big changes by themselves, but together they tidy up the Santa
Fe's design.
The most obvious change to the 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe may be its new exterior but don't overlook the most important part of the refresh, the new base engine - a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder yielding 175 horsepower. Combine that with the six-speed automatic and you get better gas mileage - lots better in fact. But don't think that means compromising on the acceleration - just the opposite in fact.
The Santa Fe garnered a lot of fans with its long list of standard feature and this year's model only adds to it. New standard features include Bluetooth, a USB jack and audio controls mounted in the steering wheel.
Santa Fe has a lot of attributes but it's not right for every buyer- especially if you're looking for third row seating, which has been deleted for this year's model.
The 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe comes in three trim levels - the GLS, SE and
Limited. The GLS comes standard with heated side mirrors, 17-inch alloy
wheels, air-conditioning, cruise control, rear privacy glass, cloth
upholstery,
60/40-split-folding rear seat, and a six-speaker CD stereo with satellite
radio USB jacks.
The SE model features foglamps, 18-inch alloy wheels,
roof rack, automatic headlights, and rear spoiler. Interior features include a power driver seat, a leather-wrapped steering
wheel and shift knob, and auto-dimming rearview mirror with
a compass.
The Limited comes with dual-zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, leather, and a six-CD changer.Other options include heated seats and a rearview camera and navigation system.
Interior design and safety features
The Santa Fe offers a number of standard safety features including antilock disc brakes, active front head restraints, side curtain airbags rollover-sensing side curtain airbags, and electronic stability control.
Inside the Santa Fe delivers more than your expectations including beautiful, upscale appointments. Maximum cargo area is 78 cubic feet, a number that's equal to crossovers in this class.
2010 Conclusions
The drive is a good one - comfortable and smooth, though not particularly thrilling. An affordable price tag, a long list of standard comfort and safety features and
two new more fuel-efficient engines make the 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe a commendable
midsize crossover SUV choice. Santa Fe is about as large as key competitors such
as the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander. The interior is relatively spacious,
which allows for an optional pair of flat-folding third-row seats. Like the rest
of Hyundai's lineup, it's a good value." says Car
