Summary

The Tucson is Hyundai's version of a small, entry-level SUV. It's a comfortable community vehicle that offers a smooth ride and a good amount of cargo space.

Because it's a true crossover, the handling is good. Additionally, if you have to do some off-roading, or just need to get to that parking spot in the muddy field for apple picking season, this is your car. Another benefit is the snow capability. It will help you get from point A to point B with little difficulty - even in drifting snow.

Trims and Styling 2008 Tucson

The 2008 Hyundai Tucson is offered in the GLS, SE and Limited trim levels.

The GLS features keyless entry, power windows, XM Satellite Radio, roof-rack side rail, five-speed manual transmission, power door locks, 16-inch alloy wheels, and power mirrors.

The SE offers both a front-wheel or four-wheel drive version, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, trip computer, cruise control, illuminated vanity mirrors, and fog lights. Get the Preferred Equipment package and add heated front seats and a power sunroof.

The Limited adds automatic temperature control, compass, leather, outside temperature display, and auto-dimming inside rearview mirror.

Standard safety features include four-wheel antilock disc brakes, traction control, electronic stability control, side curtain airbags, and side impact airbags.

Although you probably won't want to use this vehicle for heavy duty off roading, it does feature short overhangs in the front and the rear to help you clear obstacles.

Interior Features

Inside you'll find a nicely laid out center stack with climate controls and audio controls just where they should be, within easy reach and easy to command. Feel free to take your big coffee mug with you because all all doors feature both a pocket and a cupholder. The rear seats are roomy and provide good cushioning. Fold down the rear seatbacks (with a 60/40 split) and you have lots of cargo space. Need more room? Fold the passenger side front seat down flat as well.

First Drive 2008 Tucson

Smooth-shifting, easy driving and good maneuverability are the hallmarks of the 2008 Hyundai Tucson. It also features tight steering, good braking and an overall stable ride. While not made for heavy off-road driving, the Tucson can handle your mild adventures.

2008 Conclusions

The 2008 Hyundai Tucson is a contender in the small SUV market. Although it isn't a power player, it does offer a lot of safety features and enough oomph to do the job. Given it's overall value for the price tag, it's worth a look.
